Travel Information
The first and last days of your surf adventure are considered travel days. The first day officially kicks off around 6:00 pm with a "Welcome Dinner" and the last day ends around noon after a surf session and brunch.
Airfare to San Jose, Costa Rica is not included in package. After you arrive in San Jose, a scenic trip out to the Pacific Coast gets you to Malpais. There are three options for getting to Malpais from San Jose:
- Flying: Closest airport to Malpais is Tambor (about 45-minutes from Malpais). The flight costs approximately $70 each way, and is a 30-minute flight. Once in Tambor, expect a 45-minute taxi drive to our hotel in Malpais.
- Shuttle Bus: The daily shuttle, which departs from San Jose around 9:00am, costs $35 each way and will take you directly to our hotel in Malpais. It is an approximate 7-hour drive through Costa Rica's picturesque countryside, including a 90-minute ferry ride on the Golfo de Nicoya. Please contact us regarding shuttle bus arrangements.
- Driving: Approximately a 5-hour drive including 90-minute ferry ride.
